Had to involve congressperson to get any response from the Department of State, called multiple times the passport hotline. Finally in mid-September they told me that I hadn’t signed the check properly, I sent a new check the next day and received the passport 2 weeks later. They claimed to have mailed a letter about the check, but when I finally got that letter in late September it was dated mid-September after I contacted my congressperson. Very terrible customer service until my congressperson intervened.

I mailed two renewal, large book applications on 09/18 (Passports were 5 years from expiring, but we needed more pages). Tracking says they were received on 09/20. Checks cashed on 9/25. Appeared as “in process” on 10/04. 10/6 they were marked as “Shipped” and then later in the day as “Approved”. Arrived on 10/10 (would have been 10/09 except for the Federal Holiday.) 10/10 the status website recorded that the supporting documents were sent First Class so I expect them by 10/14. Amazingly fast service! 22 days including mailing on both ends and the holiday!
