My wife and I received our new passport books in just under two months from the day we mailed in the forms. We didn’t pay extra for expedited service or upgraded shipping. I would have done both if I’d read the news stories about processing delays before we sent in our old passports and forms. Our next international trip will be in late October, so I wasn’t too worried about getting the new passports on time and didn’t try to call to expedite. The process was easy breezy. The only negative is I entered my email to receive updates from the State Dept. but never got any emails when the status changed. I was able to manually log in and watch the status go from pending to approved, so I wasn’t surprised when the new passports showed up in our mailbox.
