I did call to try and expedite my application and was told they could not help me. I am beyond saddened and frustrated. Did I mention customer service was exceptionally unkind?

My passport has been processing since March 4 2023 at Agency 78. It has been over 20 weeks. I have gone to my congressional office and they sent one inquiry. I have been told not submit again or it will look like fraud. I will miss my son’s wedding if this is not resolved soon. It is very sad there is no that gives you correct information and why on earth is there not another level. I have paid for expedited twice

This is my first passport and I found the application process very easy. Filled out my DS-11 form online that was a fillable PDF from the State Department website and opted for the expedited service and USPS express mail 1-2 day delivery.
I included a passport photo and a photocopy of my state ID. Since I don’t have a driver’s license, I also submitted photocopies of my social security and medicare cards just to make sure. Submitted my application at my local post office on 6/27 in a small town in Colorado.

Checked the State Department website for passport status and the application was received on 6/30 and it was listed as “In Process”. Status changed to “Shipped” on 8/7. Never got any email updates even though I signed up for them. Passport was received on 8/9. Total time from application to having passport in hand: 43 days.

Both my minor sons Passports appeared as not available until I contacted my congressman. An aide from his office was able to figure out where their applications went, find the applications and get everything moving smoothly. I truly believe that without her help I still would not have any update on my children’s passports. I am so thankful for finding your Facebook group, I would have had no idea what to do otherwise.

6/27/23- application was received by Charleston, SC. I signed up for email updates but received none. I checked status of passport online and it changed to not available the last couple weeks before I got it.
8/3/23- received passport in mailbox
Total time with shipping time and expedited service = 5 weeks and 6 days
