Never received an e-mail with status updates. The website showed approved on 7/21, and I received in the mail 7/28. I started having some stress at 9 weeks (since the average renewal shown here is about 60-61 days)

Became nervous after seeing all the news about delay. Was planning to call my congressional representative next week (2 weeks before date of travel). Relieved to find out approval status online yesterday. Expected to receive passport in hand tomorrow (paid for expedited processing and shipping at time of application).

This site and reddit r/passports gave lots of good information. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. There is hope.

06/23 Submitted Expedited Paper application VIA USPS for 17 yr old son’s expired passport.
06/27 Application status Marked as “Received & Processing.”
07/20, 07/21 & 07/24 I Called the NPIC 877#…Automated Wait time “btw at least 2-3hrs” … waited on hold for 40min, but said “forget this!!” when automated wait time was still “at least 2 hrs.”
07/24 Emailed my Congress Woman, Julia Letlow. Her office Promptly responded with a privacy form for me to submit, authorizing her office permission to assist on my behalf.
07/25 Received email from Mrs Letlows office, Theyd scheduled an appt for us on Monday July 31 (2 days before DOT) at NOLA Passport Center… (This Would be submitted as new, seperate application process ..New form, picture, payment…etc.)
SUPER Appreciative to her office for getting an appt for us so quickly, & at a center only 5 hrs away… Thank You so very much, Mrs Letlow & staff!!
07/26 about 3PM, I called NPIC 877# one more time… (HAIL MARY…JIC….MAYBE not have to make additional trip 2 days before actual trip…. Automated Wait time was estimated 30 min…. I think i was momentarily renderred speechless, when 28 min later, the sweetest voice id ever heard said “Hello, this is Monet’, How may i Help you?”
Monet’ sent email request to #35…notifying them we’d Added Express shipping & Marking our application as “Urgent”
07/27 Saw $19 charge on card for Exp.ship…
07/28 Around 8:30 PM Status changed to Shipped with a tracking #….
08/01 “Estimated UPS delivery date”
…..& With 2 Days to Spare!!! HOORAY!!!!!

***Random FYI : Our Tracking # is for ‘UPS overnight’….. Just checked & as of 3PM Sund 7/30…UPS tracking still showing status of “label created 7/28” …Found kinda odd bc kinda thought they used USPS… esp for wknd shipping. but DEF NOT COMPLAINING….
