Did not do any expedited application fee or priority shipping. Did not do any phone calling, e-mailing or Senator/Congressman involving. Had travel date of 08/30/23 on my application. This was just regular standard renewal. Well below the 10-13 week processing time that was advertised. I’m guessing this was fast because it was a renewal and not a new application. Plus, I feel the summer rush is dwindling as school is starting up in approx 5 weeks, so those who needed summer passports already applied back in March/April/early May and have processed by now. I think we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel here on long processing times. The horror stories we are hearing on processing times are from those who applied prior to late May. Total processing time was 8 weeks and 2 days from showing in process to in hand. Showed as processing in location 69 but shipped from Tuscon, AZ. Good luck to all, have been glued to this site since I applied.

I have received run around with no honest answer. Website says appointment within 14 days. Called on a Friday 15 days prior to leaving. Told appointment can only be made within 14 and to call Monday. Call Monday, site down. Call Tuesday and told, no appointment is only within 5 days call back next Monday. Call Next Monday and told , sorry no appointments . Kept calling all day until my last call was answered at 830 pm pacific standard time. Rude male. Next day same process until night time. My congressman sent an inquiry. I was able to verify it was noted. Still nothing. I leave in 3 days

Our puppy chewed up my minor child’s passport with less than 6 weeks to go before our trip. So, the uncertainty and lack of visibility into what “In Process” means was very stressful. All said, the kindness and professionalism of everyone we spoke to along the way was reassuring.
6/10 – Submitted new application for our daughter at a post office, paid for expidited processing and return shipping
6/14 – Check cashed, received application locator number which reflected “In Process”
7/7 – our house representative’s office made an inquiry
7/12 – our senator’s office made an inquiry
7/17 – state department can only respond to one congressional inquiry so we were told house rep can no longer assist, senator’s office was told the application was forwarded to the urgent team
7/18 – received a tracking number from senators office, passport statis changed to approved
7/19 – passport received

– We have travel plans for July 22nd
– 7/10/2023 – Two weeks out we call to say we have travel within 14 days
– Call center says they send message to Passport Agency
– Days go by – Nothing happens – We call again and we are told we can call within five days of travel to make emergency appointment
– 7/17/2023, five days before travel, We call and we are told they have openings in San Francisco or Hawai for that day. We say is this a joke? We live in New York? They say no appointments for months on East Coast and both parents and kids have to fly out to that Agency. This is ridiculous.
– 7/17/2023 – We contact our local House Representative. They say they will call and handle on our behalf
-7/18/2023 – Status changes to Shipped
-7/19/2023 – Received Passport.
Horrible Experience. The call center has zero information and do not have the ability to do anything. Basically a waste of time to call them. Your Local Representative is the BEST way to get your Passport. Amazing! I’m forever thankful. They’ve earned my vote.
