I also did a name change request.
And maybe this helped but I went to my county clerk office to take my picture so I knew it would be approved and they reviewed my forms and nicely paperclip everything together. She advised me to fill out all blanks..even my profession because they said blank spaces slow the process.

I reached out to my state senator… I was 14 days out from travel, submitted requested proof of travel which was sent on 7-11 they made the inquiry on 7-11 on 7-12 my passport was approved and shipped I received it before noon on 7-13…my advise don’t wait reach out to your senators “Mitt Romney’s” staff did a fantastic and professional job

This was an adult renewal. I paid for expediting, and priority mailed it there as well as paid for the priority mailing back to me. My travel date is august 3, but I was worried because I accidentally put august 23 in my application. Fortunately, it all worked out! So happy to have my passport in hand.
