ridiculous process. unless you are about to travel nobody cares and they won’t help you. Too many problems with the system. Emails go out that are not even correct. Website does not get updated. STOP letting people file at last second unless a life or death emergency. Vacations and weddings do not qualify as an emergency.

at the end of the day it was easy and it came in time. however, because of all the stories about delayed passports it was still a stressful experience.

We used expedited service and expedited mailing. Passport mailed 5/25/23 and was collected by passport agency on 5/26. Processing date was shown as 5/30. We had confirmed travel for 7/17/23 and had indicated that on the application. As we got closer to the date we decided to contact our Senator’s office (Durbin, Illinois) 17 days before travel. The office was very responsive. We sent the signed waiver and proof of travel. They indicated that the had contacted the passport agency. At the 14 day before travel mark, we called the number listed on the passport renewal site. They marked our application urgent and told us to call back in 7 days to see if we could get an appointment. Upon calling back on 7/10/23, they indicated the only site that had open appointments was Hawaii. On 7/11/23, Senator Durbin’s office sent us an email that our passport was processed and being mailed that day. Many thanks to Senator Durbin’s office. Everything came back in time for our travel to France on 7/17/23
