June 10 still showed processing for both my son and mine so submitted a form on my local congressman’s website and someone immediately emailed back asking for more info and said she would look into it. June 15th it showed approved and I received them today the 21st 🙂 travel date is tomorrow the 22nd

Our travel date is coming up in first week of July
Called the 800 number all week last week (6/12-6/16), finally got through on Friday after waiting for over an hour. No help, not even welling to lookup since it wasn’t within the 2 weeks time frame. The only thing they said is to call back on Tuesday.
Contacted congressman & senator’s offices. They responded very quickly and the next day, our status changed to shipped.
I’m not sure if it was coincident but I strong believe that contacting our congressman & senator helped.
Still waiting for the passport card and the our document but at least we won’t miss our flight

5/12 – On line shows up as passport application recd
6/15 – started calling Passport help line but no help
06/16 – 6/20 – Kept calling helpline every 30 min untill I get connected. When connected, asked for appointment but no appointment available in entire US.
06/15 – Contacted Senator. Send paperwork with proof of Travel and passport locator#
06/16 – case worker assigned
06/15 – Contacted National Passport service local ph# (loactor 69). Rep told me all she can do is put a Rush on my application but no guarantees. Lot less waiting time.
06/21 – Passport status on line show shipped with UPS next day air. It is saying it will arrive 6/22 by 12:00pm. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Not sure what helped here – Kept calling general passport help line or calling local office or senator office but will be very happy if I get passport in my hand tomorrow.

Contacting the 877 number was the worst experience. I called from June 6th until June 19th. The first guy hung up on me after waiting 3 hours. Told me he couldn’t open my application, the rest weren’t helpful. It was sorry I can’t help you. Finally, I called on 20th to agency directly. Waited 8 hours, then call dropped. On 21st, I called and waited 20 minutes. Came across this sweet lady, I wish I remembered her name. Explained the situation and told her I sent the Death certificate of the dad. His date of travel with aunt is for 6/23. She was on point and had it shipped. Received it today. She gets the 5 stars. The folks answering the 877 number, horrible!!!!

Minors Renewal mailed expedited from passport agency on 5/10/23.
Checked status on line in process 5/12/23 locator NH. Never received email update after signing up. I checked on Tuesday 5/20 said approved tracking number shows received in AZ. We received passport today.
Still waiting on my expedited adult renewal shows processed 5/15/23 location Western Passport Center.
Will update when received , I did write my congressman on Tuesday, because I need passport for a work visa .

wasted a ton of time with the 877 number. this groups advice I am 100% sure saved our trip. Advice was to call locator 42 direct. Once I did that I have the passports in hand 26 hours later–48 prior to DOT.

Had to contact our senator to get the passports. Contacted the 877 number 5/30 to pay for expedite and express delivery. Contacted Senator on 6/2 to request help. They were approved and shipped 6/9. Got delivered 6/12. Our flight was 6/13.

What is the best way of contacting local officials (congressman and senators)? I live in New York. I am waiting on my sons’ passports (both under 16). In the status check it indicates that they were received on 04/19/23, but that has been the status for the past month. We travel in July and now i’m in panic mode. Like many people have indicated, the 877 was of no help. Essentially only told me negative news. One, it was not worth expediting, as that takes 27 business days, not including weekends or federal holidays. Additionally, they told me the best bet was to schedule an appointment at an office, but that getting an actual date and time would be extremely hard. Again, not helpful.
