Applied on March 16th in person, WA State. Passport Tracking Status showed Received on March 21st. Traveling on May 12th.

Long waits on passport line. Not worth it because no information is given. They cannot look up your passport status. The only time calling the 877 number is if you are WITHIN 14 days. At this time, the agent can send a message to the processing passport center to prompt a Rush. No guarantees. Had I known they didn’t require proof of travel dates I would have lied on my travel dates to get expedited quicker. I got nervous so at week 6 with only 10 days left to travel date, I used the “reach out to your local congressman/senator for assistance” card. IT WORKED!!

Email sent on Monday to Senator’s office. Received a call on Tuesday by a representative from Senator’s office and by the same Tuesday night I received an email saying passport approved and mailed with a tracking number – sent Priority Mail from the Passport Agency!! Mexico here we come!

Submitted daughter’s application for 16–17 year old passport because her minor passport had expired. The application was expedited, and I paid the extra for the 1 to 2 day delivery time. Was very nervous as we are traveling near the end of May. The passport was mailed, processed, and received back in 35 days. I was very worried about the whole process because the wait times right before I submitted her application increased to 7 to 9 weeks for expedited but we received it very quickly. And since they consider the 7 to 9 weeks starting when it was received, it was actually processed in about four weeks from receipt.

At week 5 after signing up for emails never received the first one status said “in process” at beginning of week 6 contacted congressman. One day prior to week 8 received. Also had to pay for overnight shipping $19.23. You have to fill out a form and they “decide” if they will add it on. So if you need to expedite pay for this when you mail it in! Congressman with Pence from Indiana (Lani) was my lifesaver. Alaska here we come.

With expedited times increasing after appointment and before passport was marked as processing we became nervous as had a trip planned for late May. Contacted local congressman who sent request that was acknowledged on 4/26. Called on morning of 5/5 as it was 14 days before travel but was told I could not call until less than 14 days. It was then approved later that day.

Received letter 4/3/2023 requesting a notarized consent statement from one parent even though applicant over 16. We assume this is because although parent did accompany teen at passport application acceptance, and the fees were paid for by a parent, nevertheless the agent did not have the parent co-sign the application nor submit a copy of the payment check nor any other evidence of the parent’s presence. Mailed response letter on 4/5/2023. Online passport status indicator did not indicate that a letter had been sent out, nor indicate when the response was received, it just stayed as “In Process” throughout. Received application approval notification on 5/4/2023. Passport mailed out on 5/6/2023.
